How we rate

This page is the long version of the method behind our list of the best online casinos in Canada. We would rather be plainly understood than look more rigorous than we are.

Where the order comes from

The order of the list is our affiliate lineup's order. We disclose that on the page itself rather than presenting a commercial lineup as a pure merit ranking. What is editorially ours is everything else: which terms we print, which omissions we call out, and the rating attached to each brand.

What the rating reflects

Ratings run on a loosely descending curve across the list and are adjusted by what an operator publishes. Four things move a number:

  • The wagering requirement. A 25x or 30x rollover is materially better than 35x, and a 200x requirement is a different product wearing the same word. Kingdom Casino's rating sits below the brands around it for exactly that reason.
  • Transparency. An operator that publishes both its rollover and its deposit floor scores above one that publishes neither, regardless of how large the headline is.
  • Cost of entry. A C$10 minimum deposit opens the offer to more people than a C$30 one.
  • Trading record. A brand with a long history of serving Canadian accounts carries weight that a new site with a larger bonus does not.

These ratings are editorial judgement applied to published terms. They are not the output of an arithmetic formula, and we do not pretend otherwise by printing one you could not reproduce.

Claims we will not make

Payout speed. We have not timed withdrawals at the operators on this page, so no payout-speed figure appears anywhere on this site. Where we have run payout testing on other projects we say so explicitly and the figures are tested. Here, we have not, so we do not.

Unverified bonus figures. If we cannot read a term on a page a Canadian player can reach, we do not print it as though we had. One brand's welcome offer reached us from our affiliate team rather than from the operator's own page, which is closed to us, and the page says so next to the figure. One operator serves its bonus ceiling in the session's own currency, so we print the percentage and the free-spin count and no ceiling at all.

Regulatory claims beyond their scope. Ontario's rules bind Ontario-registered operators. Alberta's bind Alberta-registered ones. We do not describe a foreign-licensed site as regulated in Canada, and we do not quote a provincial rule as though it applied nationally.

Where the figures come from

Each brand's figures come from one of two places: the operator's own live Canadian landing page, read on the date shown on the money page, or an internal bonus sheet we maintain and cross-check against a second source. When our two internal sources disagree on a commercial number, we do not resolve it by taking the more recent one. We go back to the operator.

Bonus codes

A code only appears on this site when it shows up in two independent sources we hold. That check exists because a code circulating on comparison sites is sometimes another affiliate's tracking string rather than the operator's own, and entering one of those can attach your account to someone else's offer.
