About Tavern

Tavern is a small independent desk covering online casinos available to players in Canada. We do not operate gambling, we do not take bets, and we are not connected to the AGCO, the AGLC, any provincial lottery corporation or any foreign licensing authority.

What we actually do

We read welcome offers in full, including the parts below the headline. We check the licence statement in a site's footer against the company named in its terms. We put the resulting figures into a table and publish our ranking of the best online casinos in Canada from that work.

What we do not do

• We do not time withdrawals. This site publishes no payout-speed figures, because we hold no payout test data for this lineup. Pages in this category that print payout times without testing are guessing, and we would rather leave the claim out.
• We do not invent terms. Where an operator does not publish a wagering requirement or a minimum deposit, the cell reads “not published” and the omission counts against the brand. Four of the fifteen brands in our current lineup do not publish a wagering requirement, and those cells say so.
• We do not give legal or tax advice. We describe the general framework and point you at the provincial regulator or a professional for anything that turns on your own circumstances.

How we are funded

Tavern is funded by commercial links. When a reader opens an account through a link on this site, we may be paid a commission by the operator. Two things that commission does not buy: the order of the ranking, which comes from our affiliate lineup and is disclosed as such on the page, and the figures, which come from the operators' own published terms. We do not accept payment to change a rating or to remove a trade-off from a review.

Corrections

Commercial terms change constantly, and a figure that was right in the morning can be wrong by the evening. If something on this site is out of date or wrong, write to us through the contact page and we will check it against the operator's live page and fix it. Corrections to a material figure carry a dated note.
